Unlock the Revenant in Elden Ring: Nightreign with this step-by-step guide. Learn how to get the Besmirched Frame and take down the Night Idol to access this ghostly summoner class.
Unlocking the Revenant
In Elden Ring Nightreign, there are two characters you can’t play as right away—and the Revenant is one of them.
While the Duchess is a high-speed, reactive fighter, the Revenant is a spectral summoner who thrives on raising spirits and calling in backup.
But you’ll need to unlock her, and it’s a bit of a journey.
To get access to the Revenant, you’ll first need to unlock the Duchess. After that, you’ll need to grind out some Murk through Expeditions, then buy a special item from the Small Jar Bazaar.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Revenant class—and how to make her yours. Also check, Best and Worst Starting Classes and Solve Freezing PC Issue.

Revenant Class Overview
Passive – Necromancy:
Raise fallen enemies to fight as ghostly allies.
Skill – Summon Spirit:
Play a lyre to summon fallen family members to your side.
Ultimate Art – Immortal March:
Grants temporary immortality to yourself and nearby allies. Keeps HP from dropping below 1 and boosts summoned spirits.
The Revenant plays unlike any other class in Nightreign. She’s not about brute strength—she’s about controlling the battlefield with summoned spirits and keeping your team alive when things get rough. She’s especially good in solo play thanks to her reliable minions and crowd control.
The Summon Spirit skill lets you choose from one of three unique summons:
- Helen – a Page like the ones from Leyndell
- Frederick – a Mad Pumpkin Head
- Sebastian – a giant ghostly skeleton like those from Mohgwyn Palace
Her Ultimate, Immortal March, is a lifesaver (literally). Time it right and it can stop boss fights from turning into wipeouts. It also instantly revives allies if they’re near death when cast, and massively powers up your summons. Pro tip: use your self-ping before casting to gather your team for max effect.

How to Unlock the Revenant in Nightreign
Step 1: Unlock the Duchess
You won’t be able to start the Revenant unlock process without having the Duchess first. So get that done.
Step 2: Earn 1,500 Murk
You’ll need 1,500 Murk to buy the Besmirched Frame. Run Expeditions to earn Murk—the deeper into the three-day cycle you go, the more Murk you’ll earn. No need to fully complete them, just push as far as you can.
Step 3: Buy the Besmirched Frame
Head to the Small Jar Bazaar in the Roundtable Hold. It’s tucked away near where Smith Hewg used to be, just past the spot where Fia kills D. Buy the Besmirched Frame once you’ve got enough Murk.

Step 4: Enter the Limveld Spirit Trial
With the Frame in your inventory, head to the hallway next to the character selection statue—outside where Gideon’s study used to be. You’ll see the spirit of a girl. Touch her to enter an instanced battle zone in Limveld.
Step 5: Defeat the Night Idol
Once inside, you’ll face the Revenant herself—referred to here as the Night Idol. She opens the fight by summoning all three of her spirit companions.
Take down the summons one at a time while dodging her spells, especially Miquella’s Rings. Once her spirits are out of the picture, go all-in on the Idol and bring her down.
Final Step: Play as the Revenant
After defeating the Night Idol, you’ll be warped back to the Roundtable Hold. Head over to the character selection statue or the Sparring Grounds to switch over to the Revenant and try out her unique playstyle.
