Epic Games is diving headfirst into the mobile gaming world. On June 16, 2025, the Fortnite team announced a brand-new mode—Fortnite Blitz Royale—via their official X account.
The hype was immediate, with the post racking up over 75,000 views in under an hour. The mode is described as a fresh twist on the classic Fortnite Battle Royale, but this time around, matches will be super fast—lasting just around five minutes.
What’s Fortnite Blitz Royale All About?
In the official announcement, Epic revealed that Blitz Royale is meant to be a “Made for Mobile” experience, with gameplay tailored specifically for touch controls.
It’s built like a rogue-like, which means players can expect unique variations in every match.
Even though it’s mobile-first, the mode will also be available on PC and consoles with full cross-play—so everyone can join the fun.
While Epic hasn’t spilled all the details on how the rogue-like mechanics will work, fans can probably look forward to randomized game elements and fast-paced action.
It’s basically Fortnite for when you’re short on time but still want a quick thrill.
Known leaker @HYPEX added to the excitement by teasing possible weekly events and collab items, hinting that fan-favorites like Dragon Ball Mythics could make a return.
A Smart Move by Epic
This new mode comes hot on the heels of Fortnite’s re-entry into the mobile market in 2025 after wrapping up its long legal standoff with Apple.
With mobile esports gaining serious momentum, Epic clearly wants Fortnite to remain a major player—especially with competitors like Valorant Mobile stepping into the arena.
By designing Blitz Royale with cross-play in mind, Epic might even bring over some PC and console players who’ve been curious about the mobile scene.
And with its global release set for June 18, fans won’t have to wait long to get in on the action.
Whether you’re a longtime Fortnite fan or just love fast, on-the-go gaming, Blitz Royale looks like it’s going to bring a whole new kind of energy to your screen.
