If you’ve come across the Zantara’s Head bounty in Dune Awakening and found yourself utterly confused, you’re not alone. This particular quest has been throwing players off for a bunch of reasons.
While the survival-crafting game is packed with bounty missions that are usually pretty straightforward—go here, kill this NPC, get your reward—Zantara’s Head breaks all those rules in the weirdest ways.
What Is Zantara’s Head and Why Is It So Weird?
You’ll first run into this bounty after visiting Harko Village and checking out the contracts board. The mission’s posted by none other than Count Hasimir Fenring, the Imperial Spice Minister, who accuses Zantara of “terrorising bondsmen throughout Arrakis.” In exchange for bringing him Zantara’s head, Fenring’s offering a whopping 1 million Solaris.
Sounds awesome, right? Except… yeah, it’s not that simple.

As of now, there’s no way to actually complete the bounty. Not only does the game fail to give any hint about where to find Zantara, but players are also reporting that the quest just straight-up disappears after a while. One moment it’s there, the next—it’s gone.
So, What’s Going On?
The leading theory is that this bounty isn’t really meant to be completed at all. Instead, it may be a bit of clever world-building. For context, Zantara is actually the Fremen NPC who shoots your ship down in the game’s intro and walks you through the tutorial. After that, he vanishes, and the bounty might just be a subtle nod to his disappearance.
Interestingly, later in the game, you do cross paths with Zantara again during a late-game quest. You can kill him and even pick up his ring—just like the bounty says. But there’s no one to turn the ring in to, at least not right now. So, while you can fulfill the act of the bounty, there’s no reward or closure. The promised 1 million Solari? Total pipe dream.
What Now?
It’s unclear whether this is all an unfinished quest, a lore Easter egg, or a glitch that’ll be patched later. Whatever the case, it’s got the community talking—and scratching their heads.
We’ll update this guide if anything changes or if the bounty becomes completable in a future update. In the meantime, if the Zantara’s Head contract is still active in your game, drop a comment and let us know—maybe you’ve found something the rest of us haven’t!
