Big Unique Item Changes Coming in Diablo 4 Season 9

Blizzard is shaking things up ahead of Diablo 4 Season 9, revealing a fresh batch of balance changes that’ll hit once the new season drops on July 1.

Some of the game’s most powerful Uniques—especially for Druids, Necromancers, and Rogues—are getting either a boost or a nerf, with affix tweaks also in the mix.

Season 8 launched back on April 29, and it brought some serious flavor with a Berserk manga crossover and Belial returning as a new boss fight.

Now, as we head into July, all eyes are on Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim. The upcoming season is bringing a new questline that tasks players with hunting down relics corrupted by Astaroth’s blood, and introduces Horadric Spellcraft as the seasonal mechanic.

This new system adds fresh spells like Corrosive Vapor, Glacial Nimbus, Smoldering Ember, and Thunderous Particle to your combat toolkit.

But the real meat of the update? The gear changes.

Druid Buffs Incoming

Druids are seeing some notable improvements. The Greatstaff of the Crone will now boost Storm Strike damage from the old 170–250% range to a beefier 200–350%

And if you’re a fan of Boulder-based builds, the Dolmen Stone amulet is getting a buff too—Boulder damage is going from 20–40% to 30–50%. Nice little damage bump on both ends.

Necromancer Tweaks

Necros aren’t left out. The Bloodless Scream spear is getting some serious attention. Its Intelligence bonus is being brought in line with other weapons, while the Freeze Duration affix is being swapped out for Lucky Hit, which gives a chance to restore resources.

That new Lucky Hit affix now has up to a 40% chance to deal 8,500–13,500 Shadow damage. Plus, the Ranks to Darkness Skills is getting bumped from 1–2 to 2–4, making this spear way more impactful.

Rogue Adjustments

Rogues get a bit of a mixed bag. The Eaglehorn bow is being tweaked so that Penetrating Shot will now always bounce at least once, even if there’s no enemy or surface nearby.

On the downside, Eyes in the Dark pants are being nerfed—Death Trap’s bonus damage is dropping from 100–250% to 40–60%. That said, the ability bonus will now always apply without needing an extra cast, so at least there’s some consistency added.

As of now, there’s no confirmed end date for Season 9, according to Blizzard’s latest roadmap. But as usual, expect additional patches and balance changes to roll out as the devs respond to community feedback.

Season 9 is shaping up to bring a solid mix of new content and meaningful gameplay tuning—perfect for players looking to shake up their builds or dive into fresh challenges.
