Heads up, Wastelanders: Fallout 76 is gearing up for another round of crossover content — this time tied to Season 2 of the Fallout TV show on Amazon Prime Video. But before you start speculating about full-blown questlines featuring Lucy or The Ghoul, let’s set some expectations straight: Bethesda’s keeping it pretty chill.

Fallout TV Show Blew Up the Franchise (In a Good Way)

If you somehow missed it, the Fallout TV series dropped in April 2024 and went nuclear in terms of impact. Every mainline Fallout game — even Fallout 76 — saw a spike in player activity after the show hit Prime Video. Bethesda was quick to jump on the hype, rolling out themed goodies like the Vault 33 Survival Kit for Fallout 76, which gave players cosmetic gear inspired by the show’s main character, Lucy, plus some consumables to help out in the wasteland.

So yeah, the crossover formula worked. And now they’re doing it again with Season 2 of the show, which is headed to New Vegas, baby.

More Crossovers Are Coming — Confirmed by Bethesda

In a recent chat with Variety, Fallout 76’s Creative Director Jon Rush confirmed that yes, crossover content is coming, and the game’s dev team is in regular communication with the TV show’s creators to make it happen.

“Lining things up with the seasonal releases of the show, it’s stuff that we talk about all the time,” Rush said.

But here’s the catch…

Fallout 76

Why Fallout 76 Can’t Go All-In on the Show’s Storyline

The show takes place in 2296. Fallout 76 is set way earlier, in 2102. That’s a whopping 194 years apart — and Fallout’s devs take their timeline very seriously.

So, don’t expect a full-on story arc linking the TV series with in-game events. Lore consistency is king in the Fallout universe, and Bethesda isn’t going to break the canon just to squeeze in some face time with Cooper Howard.

What we can expect? Smaller nods — cosmetic items, themed bundles, maybe some emotes or event rewards. Think skins, backstories, and winks to the fans, rather than major in-game changes.

What to Expect (Based on Last Time)

If Season 1’s crossover is any indication, we’re likely to get:

  • A themed cosmetic bundle (like Lucy’s Vault 33 backpack)
  • Consumables like Repair Kits, Lunchboxes, etc.
  • Possibly a new in-game event or limited-time challenge

And since Fallout Season 2 is set for a December 2025 release, that means this content will likely hit sometime late in Fallout 76 Season 22 or early in Season 23.

Season 22 is titled Appalachian Modern Living, while Season 23 is still a mystery.

The Future of Fallout Crossovers Looks Pretty Bright

Even though we probably won’t be battling Brotherhood baddies from the show in real-time, this level of synergy between the TV team and game devs is promising. It shows Bethesda’s all-in on keeping Fallout relevant and connected, across games, shows, and future titles.

Summary:

  • Fallout 76 is getting more crossover content tied to Fallout TV Season 2.
  • Expect cosmetics and themed items, not major story content.
  • The show takes place almost 200 years after Fallout 76, so lore consistency limits bigger collabs.
  • New content will likely drop late 2025, alongside or just after the Season 2 premiere.

If you’re still rocking Appalachia and looking to flex some TV-inspired gear, it’s a good time to keep an eye out for announcements. And if you haven’t watched the show yet… what are you even doing, Vault Dweller?
