In any great role-playing game, how your character looks isn’t just cosmetic—it’s part of the experience.
Whether you’re building a hero with a rich backstory or just want to stand out, your appearance matters.
Thankfully, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma gives players solid customization options—especially when it comes to clothing and gear. While there are a few limitations, there’s still plenty of room to make your mark. Let’s break down everything you need to know.
How to Change Clothes in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
Refresh Your Look Anytime

Want to update your character’s outfit? Just head to the dragon shrine in any village. Inside, you’ll find a wardrobe—right next to your bed and one of the shrine points used for saving your game and traveling.
Interact with the wardrobe to open up the customization menu. You can pick a character and browse through all the outfits you’ve unlocked so far. At the start, your options are limited, but as you progress through the game, more stylish choices become available.
Can You Change Hairstyles or Facial Features?
The Limits of Customization

Here’s the bottom line: Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma doesn’t offer facial or hairstyle customization. Once you choose between the male or female protagonist at the beginning, that’s it—your character’s appearance is locked in.
There’s also no in-game character creator, so the design you start with is the design you’ll have throughout the story. Supporting characters can’t be altered either, aside from their clothing and gear loadout.
How to Equip Gear (and Customize Its Appearance)
Form Meets Function

Now, here’s where customization gets a bit more strategic. Gear—like weapons and armor—can be equipped to your main character and your active party members. To do this, go to the Gear menu, where you’ll find two key options: Edit Gear and Edit Appearance.
- If you want an item for both its stats and looks, select the same piece in both options.
- Want to min-max? You can equip a high-stat item for its performance, and a different one just for its look. This way, your character stays battle-ready and stylish.
It’s a simple system that gives you more freedom to create the look and loadout that suits your playstyle.
While Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma doesn’t offer full facial customization, it still gives you the tools to craft a distinctive look through outfits and gear.
Whether you’re going for practical, flashy, or a mix of both, you’ve got enough flexibility to express your character’s identity—both in battle and in story.
