Marriage & Parenthood Guide – Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

In Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, romance is more than just a side activity—it’s a wholesome and rewarding part of village life. Once you’ve romanced a character and maxed out your bond, it’s time to think about marriage and maybe even starting a family.

This guide will walk you through how to get married, where to find Wisteria (a key marriage item), and how the child system works in the game.

How to Get Married in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

💍 How to Get Married in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

Step 1: Reach Bond Level 10 and Complete Romance Quests

Once you’ve maxed out your relationship (Bond Level 10) and completed all of a character’s bonding quests, you’ll get a visit from Woolby the next morning. He’ll tell you about the Fateweaver Shrine, which is the key location for proposing and getting married.

Step 2: Get a Red Plum Tree Branch

Woolby will give you a Red Plum Tree Sapling. Just plant this tree behind the Dragon Shrine in any village. It takes around 5 in-game days to grow. Once it’s fully grown, you can harvest a Red Plum Branch, which is required for marriage.

Step 3: Craft Divine Spirits (Rice + Wisteria)

You’ll also need to cook a dish called Divine Spirits. The recipe requires:

  • Rice – Grown easily in the Autumn Village
  • Wisteria – A bit trickier to track down (see below for help)

Once you have both ingredients, cook Divine Spirits using a fire like any other cooking recipe.

Step 4: Propose at Fateweaver Shrine

With the Red Plum Branch and Divine Spirits ready, head to your chosen partner and invite them to the Fateweaver Shrine. After a sweet cutscene and celebration, you’ll officially be married!

After marriage, your spouse will sleep in the shrine with you and give you a meal each morning—useful for healing or selling.

How to Get Wisteria

🌸 How to Get Wisteria

Wisteria is one of the harder materials to find, but here are the two best ways to get it:

Option 1: Visit Flowering Village

  • Open the Warp Submenu on your map (X on Xbox, Square on PlayStation, Y on Switch)
  • Warp to Flowering Village—an island in the sky that becomes accessible through the main story
  • Look for a log icon just north of where you land
  • Chop it to receive at least one Wisteria Blossom

Option 2: Explore the Spring Highlands

  • Find trees with pink, drooping blossoms
  • Chop these trees to gather Wisteria

⚠️ Note: Planting a Wisteria tree in your village doesn’t reliably give you blossoms—it often just gives you regular wood. It’s better to gather Wisteria from the wild.

How to Have a Child in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

👶 How to Have a Child in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

Step 1: Wait 5 Days After Marriage

About five in-game days after tying the knot, your spouse will talk to you one morning about the idea of having a child. If you say yes, you’ll head to the Fateweaver Shrine and pray together.

Step 2: Wait Another 5 Days and Pray Again

Five more in-game days will pass. Then, you’ll be prompted to revisit the Fateweaver Shrine. Woolby will confirm the good news—you’re going to be parents!

Step 3: Choose the Child’s Gender and Traits

Your spouse will ask:

  • Do you want a boy or girl?
    • Choose your preference or let the game decide at random.
  • What do you think they’ll be like?
    • This affects minor personality traits but doesn’t impact the main story.

Step 4: Birth and Bonding

Five in-game days later, your baby is born. You’ll get to name your child, and from then on, they’ll live with you in the shrine and become a new NPC you can bond with.

⚠️ Note: As of now, your child won’t grow older than Suzu (young child stage). They stay small and cute indefinitely—though this might change if you play long enough.
