In true RPG fashion, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma throws a ton of loot your way—crops, crafting materials, monster parts, meals, potions, bath tickets—you name it. But as generous as the game is, your inventory space is limited.

So, what happens when your bags are full and you’re still picking up items while out exploring? Thankfully, the game has a smart solution that keeps your gear safe—and easy to retrieve. Also read, How to Transmog Gear.

Where Items Go When Inventory Is Full

Everything Ends Up in Storage (Automatically)

Storage Box in Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma

When your inventory is maxed out, any additional items you collect are automatically sent to your Storage Box. You can find this in the dragon shrine of each village—right where your bed and the sky-travel/save shrine are located.

Once inside the shrine, walk through the main doors and look to your right. You’ll spot a long brown chest—that’s your Storage Box. Open it, and you’ll see all the overflow items you’ve collected while your inventory was full.

You can also manually transfer items between your inventory and storage at any time by interacting with this box. Whether you’re stashing excess crafting materials or clearing space before a big quest, this system makes it easy to stay organized.

Tip: Keep an Eye on Hidden Hauls

If you’re frequently harvesting crops or grabbing supplies around town, it’s worth checking your storage box now and then. You might be sitting on a goldmine of produce or resources that were auto-stored without you noticing. (Been there—realized I had hundreds of crops collecting dust instead of coins.)

Storage Capacity and Gear Exceptions

Plenty of Room to Hoard

The Storage Box does have a capacity limit, but it’s extremely generous. After 40+ hours of play, many players never come close to maxing it out. Feel free to dump unused food, potions, and materials here until you’re ready to use or sell them.

That said, not everything goes into this box:

  • Gear items like weapons, accessories, and outfits are stored separately in the Gear menu.
  • You don’t need to worry about these items eating up inventory or storage space.
  • Old gear can be sold for extra gold—but also plays a role in customizing your character’s look, so choose wisely.

How to Transfer Items Between Inventory and Storage

Simple and Straightforward

Here’s how to move items around:

  1. Interact with the storage chest in the dragon shrine.
  2. A two-pane menu will appear—Inventory on one side, Storage Box on the other.
  3. Highlight the item you want to move, press A (Xbox) / X (PlayStation), and select either Move to Inventory or Move to Storage Box.

🧠 Pro Tip:
Not all items stack the same.

  • Materials and crops will stack, saving you space.
  • Meals and potions typically won’t, so make room before pulling these out of storage.

Inventory management in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is surprisingly stress-free once you understand how the system works. Whether you’re hoarding rare crafting supplies or just need a quick stash spot mid-adventure, the Storage Box has your back—automatically and reliably.
