Minecraft Movie Fans Can Now Grab a Free Dennis Painting and Lava Chicken Music Disc

Minecraft just dropped a fun little update packed with references to A Minecraft Movie.

If you enjoyed the film—or even just the memes that came from it—there’s a good chance you’ll appreciate the new additions: a Dennis painting and a Lava Chicken music disc.

The movie itself was a massive hit at the box office, doing so well that it even got a Block Party Edition re-release, encouraging fans to sing along and get loud in theaters. Mojang celebrated with a full Minecraft Movie DLC, but now players are getting two smaller movie-inspired treats for free.

Following the release of Chase the Skies and Vibrant Visuals, Minecraft is adding a couple more goodies tied directly to the movie.

First, there’s the Dennis painting, a blocky tribute to Steve’s wolf companion in the film. If you’ve seen the movie, you know how attached Jack Black’s Steve was to Dennis—now players can hang that same love for the pup on their in-game walls.

Then there’s the Lava Chicken music disc, which plays an instrumental version of the goofy and catchy Lava Chicken song Steve sings in the movie. If you’ve heard it, there’s no forgetting it.

How to Get the New Items

  • Dennis Painting – Available now in both Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft.
  • Lava Chicken Music Disc – Currently exclusive to Java Edition. To get it, players need to defeat a Chicken Jockey for a chance of it dropping. Mojang has confirmed that the disc will arrive in Bedrock soon, but hasn’t given an exact release date yet.

As for the movie itself, A Minecraft Movie had a rough road to the big screen—it was first announced all the way back in 2014 and only finally released in 2025. But the wait paid off, and now a sequel is already in early development, reportedly going by the working title Another Minecraft Movie

No word yet on if that name will stick, but fans are already hoping Jack Black will return as Steve. Whether co-star Jason Momoa or any of the original cast will be back is still up in the air.

Given how many of the movie’s most viral moments came from Jack Black’s wild and heartfelt performance, it’s a safe bet that the sequel won’t feel quite the same without him.

But for now, at least fans can enjoy a little bit of the movie magic in-game—with a painting of Dennis and a disc full of Lava Chicken vibes.
