FromSoftware confirms Elden Ring Nightreign may face frame rate drops on high-end PCs. Temporary fixes shared as the team investigates. The game launches May 30, 2025.
FromSoftware has issued a warning to PC players ahead of the launch of Elden Ring Nightreign, confirming that those using newer, high-end graphics cards may encounter unexpected frame rate drops. The studio is actively investigating the issue and has provided some temporary workarounds.
In a note included with the game’s day-one patch (v1.01), FromSoftware acknowledged the performance problem, recommending that affected users lower their graphics settings from “High” to “Medium” or “Low,” reduce screen resolution, and ensure their GPU drivers are up to date. While the exact cause of the issue hasn’t been revealed, it’s notable that the problem does not seem to affect console players.

This technical hiccup comes just days before Elden Ring Nightreign officially launches on May 30, 2025, and despite the warning, excitement for the title remains sky-high — it’s currently the most wishlisted game on Steam.
Elden Ring Nightreign is a standalone prequel to the award-winning 2022 original, set in an alternate version of the Lands Between.
The game emphasizes multiplayer gameplay, allowing up to three players to explore and conquer together.
Director Junya Ishizaki revealed that the concept for Nightreign first took root during the development of Dark Souls 3, and now it’s finally ready to bring that vision to life with massive co-op challenges and punishing boss fights in a new region called Limveld — a twisted mirror of Elden Ring’s Limgrave.
The game’s day-one patch also addresses several gameplay and technical issues, improving character responsiveness, tweaking balance, fixing bugs, and adding new character scenarios and soundtracks to enhance the immersive experience.
While a permanent solution to the PC frame rate issues is still pending, fans are hopeful that FromSoftware will deploy a fix soon. Until then, PC players may want to adjust their settings to ensure a smoother experience when stepping into the haunting world of Nightreign.
