After over a year of rumors and fan buzz, Helldivers 2 is finally making its way to Xbox. Sony has officially confirmed that its blockbuster co-op shooter is launching on Xbox Series X/S on August 26, 2025.
Originally released in early 2024 for PS5 and PC, Helldivers 2 became Sony’s biggest live-service hit to date.
Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, the fast-paced third-person shooter sold over 12 million copies in just four months.
Naturally, Xbox players started asking for a port—and they asked loudly. A Change.org petition pushing for the Xbox version racked up over 134,000 signatures.
Now, those requests have paid off. Helldivers 2 will launch on Xbox for $39.99—the same price as on PS5 and PC.
The Xbox port was handled by Nixxes Software, Sony’s in-house team that specializes in bringing games to new platforms, and it’ll be published under the PlayStation Publishing label.
Interestingly, whispers of an Xbox version started as far back as April 2024, thanks to industry insider Shpeshal Nick.
At the time, the idea of Sony bringing one of its own IPs to Xbox seemed far-fetched. But with Xbox embracing multiplatform releases like Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5, it looks like Sony’s now testing the waters too.
And get this—Helldivers 2 lands on Xbox the very same day Gears of War: Reloaded drops on PS5. Whether it’s a coincidence or a strategic “shooter swap,” it’s a big moment for cross-platform fans.
Xbox players now have a chance to dive into one of the most chaotic and entertaining co-op games around—and with all the demand, the game could see a major second wind.
