Ready or Not Console Versions Will Include Slight Censorship, Developer Confirms

Void Interactive has announced that the upcoming Ready or Not console ports will include a few content adjustments compared to the original PC version.

While the changes are minimal, the developer says it’s being transparent to keep fans in the loop ahead of the July 15 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The tweaks were made to meet Sony and Microsoft‘s certification requirements, which set stricter standards for in-game depictions of certain mature content.

These updates focus mostly on toning down scenes involving nudity, torture, and violence toward children.

Void Interactive emphasized that these edits were kept to an absolute minimum, only made where required, and handled with care to preserve the tone of the game.

Here’s What’s Changing in the Console Versions:

  • Dismemberment still exists, but only for living enemies—no limb loss after death.
  • Torture visuals have been softened slightly (e.g. less exaggerated wounds).
  • Nudity has been reduced, with more coverage for certain civilian and suspect models.
  • Child-related violence has been visually softened (e.g. a child character appears sleeping instead of convulsing).
  • Evidence textures have been edited on console to be less graphic, though context remains clear.

Despite these changes, Void Interactive reassures fans that the console experience will still feel true to the original vision. “There’s no reason to be alarmed,” the studio stated, explaining that only mandatory edits were made—and even those were carefully implemented to avoid undermining the game’s intensity.

Interestingly, some of these content changes will carry over to the PC version as well.

The studio explained that simple texture swaps can remain platform-specific, but larger asset modifications (like clothing updates) are more efficient to apply across all platforms for the sake of development simplicity.

With Ready or Not nearing its fourth anniversary since its early access debut and its full release in December 2023, this console launch marks a major step forward for the tactical FPS.

And while the changes might catch some eyes, most of them are so minor that players probably won’t even notice—aside from the newly tweaked dismemberment mechanic.
