Rematch is off to a blazing start. Sloclap’s first dive into the sports genre just launched and already pulled in over 92,000 concurrent players on its first day. That’s not just impressive—it’s a massive statement, especially considering it’s competing with heavy hitters like EA Sports FC 25.

According to SteamDB, Rematch peaked at 92,841 players during launch day, and it’s currently sitting pretty at the top of Steam’s Top Sellers list. Reviews are coming in as “Mostly Positive,” and the buzz is definitely real.

What makes this even more wild? EA’s FC 25—part of one of the biggest franchises in sports gaming—peaked at 60,328 players on June 19. So yeah, an indie game from the Sifu devs just outperformed a global sports giant, at least on Steam.

⚽ The Hype Is Real

This isn’t Rematch’s first time making waves, either. The beta phase saw a whopping 159,000+ concurrent players, which set the stage for a lot of hype. Sloclap built a solid fanbase from the start, and it clearly paid off.

Sure, Rematch hasn’t hit those beta numbers yet post-launch, but this is a seriously strong start. And with updates on the way—including cross-play, offline modes, and more—it’s only expected to grow.

📈 What’s Next?

Sloclap has already confirmed more features are in the pipeline. While not all fan requests made it into the launch build, the devs are actively working on patching and improving things, which could help the game push past its early competition even further.

Oh, and let’s not forget: Rematch launched day one on Xbox Game Pass, giving it an even wider reach on consoles. Steam is just one piece of the pie here.

With nearly 100K concurrent players at launch, Rematch is looking like a major win for Sloclap. It’s not easy to break into the sports game world, especially when you’re going up against EA, but this indie soccer sim is already proving it has what it takes to compete—and maybe even lead.
