Starting today, July 2, Xbox Game Pass Standard members can now play Trials of Mana and Legend of Mana, adding two more gems to the subscription service’s growing JRPG lineup. While both games come from Square Enix’s iconic Mana series, they offer very different experiences—and both have their own cult fanbases.
Trials of Mana is a full-blown 3D remake of Seiken Densetsu 3, a 1995 Japanese Super Famicom (SNES) exclusive that never officially launched outside Japan until much later. The remake, released in 2020, modernizes the game with real-time action combat, a new camera system, voice acting, and extra story bits—all while keeping that classic Mana charm intact.
Legend of Mana, on the other hand, is an HD remaster of the 1999 PlayStation title. Originally remastered and released in 2021, it only arrived on Xbox Series X/S in 2024. It keeps its original 2D visuals and quirky storytelling intact but cleans up the resolution and adds quality-of-life tweaks. It’s a more experimental, nonlinear RPG—but a favorite for longtime fans.
Both games have been available on PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate since September 2024, but this marks their first appearance as Standard-tier exclusives. Microsoft has been expanding the Standard tier more frequently lately—just yesterday, Little Nightmares 2 and Rise of the Tomb Raider were added, and now these two Mana classics join the mix.
According to Microsoft’s official Game Pass schedule, here’s a quick rundown of what’s coming next:

It’s worth noting that Legend of Mana and Trials of Mana are not available on Xbox One, despite what Microsoft’s initial listing said—they’re exclusive to the Series X/S consoles.
Reception-wise, Trials of Mana scored a “Strong” rating on OpenCritic, with a 75 average and 65% of reviewers recommending it. Legend of Mana sits just behind with a “Fair” rating, averaging 74, but with a slightly lower 61% recommendation rate.
If you’re a fan of classic JRPGs—or just looking for something new to dig into—these Mana titles are solid additions. And with even more titles lined up throughout July (including Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 and High on Life 2), the summer’s looking stacked for Game Pass users.
